Sally Burton, Certified Director, SAI
Sally joined the Chesapeake Harmony Chorus in September 2009, singing baritone “for the harmony.” She plunged into learning everything she could about creating barbershop harmony by becoming a dual member of the Pride of Baltimore Chorus and the Greater Harrisburg Chorus. She switched to lead for a year to avoid singing the same part in the same contest song in two choruses, and then later found her sweet spot singing tenor! She currently sings tenor with the 2nd Star Quartet, which won the SAI Region 19 Novice Quartet award in 2019.

In her pursuit to learn, Sally joined the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) and Harmony, Incorporated for additional opportunities to access music, education and performance opportunities. She won a scholarship to the directors track of the BHS Harmony University in 2018. Sally completed the SAI Director Candidate Program and was promoted to Certified Director in February 2019.
Sally has served on the CHC management team in the membership, team coordinator and finance coordinator roles, and on the CHC music team as the tenor section leader, associate director for 2017-2019 and the interim director from June 2019 to April 2020. She is beyond thrilled to now be serving as the CHC front-line director.
